Rock Downtown and Jazz on the Waterfront in Norfolk
Norfolk is home to the NorVA, named the top “Venue that Rocks” by Rolling Stone magazine, and nearly 100 festivals most of which take place on the waterfront. One of the highlights of the summer is the 2016 Norfolk Waterfront Jazz festival set for July 15-16. Coastal Virginia’s longest running outdoor jazz festival is celebrating its 34th year with national recording artists Brian Culbertson, Gerald Albright, Jonathan Butler, Everette Harp, Jeff Lorber, Vivian Green, Chuck Loeb and more. Music Fills the Air All Over Greater Williamsburg
This summer in Williamsburg, Grammy®-winning singer-songwriter Bruce Hornsby gathers musical friends for a three-day jam called the Virginia Arts Festival, Williamsburg Funhouse Fest. Three days of sun and stars, and most of all, music to remember in Colonial Williamsburg, June 24-26. Over at Busch Gardens, it’s a Rock ‘n Roll sunny day with the hilarious musical show, “Elmo Rocks!” and The Rockin’ Elmo Band. A Music Tradition in Hampton

Symphony Under the Stars in Chesapeake

The Virginia Beach Boardwalk Comes Alive in the Summer

The Sounds of Summer in Smithfield
There’s a party every Friday night in downtown Smithfield – and you’re invited! The Friday Night Summer Concert Series – now in its 30th year – offers a free concert each Friday at 8 pm at the Smithfield Times Gazebo. Bring your own lawn chair and beverage of choice for this eclectic mix of offerings – everything from jazz to bluegrass to big band and – everyone’s favorite – military bands. Of course, it wouldn’t be a summer concert if you didn’t stroll down the block for a treat from the Smithfield Ice Cream Parlor to cool things off a bit, or enjoyed dinner before or after the show at one of the town’s outstanding restaurants.
