Fall in love with fall in COVA with these festivals that you don’t want to miss!

Chesapeake Wine Fest

Summer vacation may be close to over, but the fun is just beginning in Chesapeake! Experience the fall season with unique activities and festivals for all ages. Foodies, get ready to sample some of the area’s best food and drink with entertainment at the Great American Food Festival on Wednesday, October 5th or get cheesy with the first annual Hampton Roads Grilled Cheese Festival, taking place Sunday, November 6th. If wine is more your thing and you can’t fit that vineyard visit in this fall, don’t you worry! Premier wines from around the world will be available for tasting at the 7th Annual Chesapeake Virginia Wine Festival on Saturday, October 8th. That same weekend, celebrate our historic waterways at the Waterways Heritage Festival, on October 8th and 9th located along the Intracoastal Waterway. Finally if art is your scene, check out the Dismal Swamp Art Festival, October 22nd and 23rd. This festival is far from dismal, featuring miles of trails, over 100 artists, live music, Brunswick stew and fall fare, microbrews, apple cider and interactive art and nature activities for all ages. Mark your calendar for the 34th Annual Franklin Fall Festival. Check out the Block Party on September 30th in Historic Downtown Franklin and enjoy live music by Strictly Bizzness and the Deloreans. Town and Country Days Fall Festival Smithfield

Mark your calendars for the second weekend in October, Smithfield and Isle of Wight County’s Annual Town and Country Days celebrates the historic port town and the county’s rich agricultural heritage with days of fun-filled activities for the entire family. This year’s Town & Country Days Festival will be held October 7th and 8th and will include: the 15th Annual Hog Jog 5K Race, “Court Days,” a historic drama presented by the folks at the 1750 Courthouse, Souper Saturday, a community-wide fundraiser featuring all-you-can-eat homemade soup, bread and desserts, live music, an award-winning farmers market and Smithfield’s popular Vintage Market. Make a splash this fall with Virginia Beach’s famous King Neptune down on the boardwalk. The highly anticipated Neptune Festival Boardwalk Weekend will be from September 30th – October 2nd this year. Virginia Beach’s three-mile boardwalk will be lined with tents, showcasing 270 artisans displaying their work from all across the country. There will be live music all along the 32 blocks, food for purchase from crab cakes to Italian ices.
