Summer vacation may be close to over, but the fun is just beginning in Chesapeake! Experience the fall season with unique activities and festivals for all ages. Foodies, get ready to sample some of the area’s best food and drink with entertainment at the Great American Food Festival on Wednesday, October 5th or get cheesy with the first annual Hampton Roads Grilled Cheese Festival, taking place Sunday, November 6th. If wine is more your thing and you can’t fit that vineyard visit in this fall, don’t you worry! Premier wines from around the world will be available for tasting at the 7th Annual Chesapeake Virginia Wine Festival on Saturday, October 8th. That same weekend, celebrate our historic waterways at the Waterways Heritage Festival, on October 8th and 9th located along the Intracoastal Waterway. Finally if art is your scene, check out the Dismal Swamp Art Festival, October 22nd and 23rd. This festival is far from dismal, featuring miles of trails, over 100 artists, live music, Brunswick stew and fall fare, microbrews, apple cider and interactive art and nature activities for all ages. Make a splash this fall with Virginia Beach’s famous King Neptune down on the boardwalk. The highly anticipated Neptune Festival Boardwalk Weekend will be from September 30th – October 2nd this year. Virginia Beach’s three-mile boardwalk will be lined with tents, showcasing 270 artisans displaying their work from all across the country. There will be live music all along the 32 blocks, food for purchase from crab cakes to Italian ices.
