5 Ways to Warm up this Winter in COVA

Still got some shopping left to do and dreading this wintry weather? Have no fear, Coastal Virginia is here! Whether you’re looking to warm up with a cup o’ Joe or a beer straight from the tap, we’ve compiled some of the best places to take a load off and re-energize this holiday season.

Here are five ways to warm up this winter in COVA:

The one-million square foot MacArthur Center located in the heart of downtown is one of the best places to shop in the area and right across the street you’ll find eclectic shops in the Monticello Arcade, a beautiful three-story Beaux Arts style shopping arcade built in 1907. The Historic Ghent & Freemason neighborhoods offer a collection of boutiques, art, and antique galleries. After tackling your holiday shopping list, indulge in a re-energizing, holiday-themed coffee! Visitors will also find that coffeehouses feature regular musical performances and serve as a meeting point for local artists. Visit Elliot’s Fair Grounds, the city’s oldest independent coffee shop, in Norfolk’s Historic Ghent district. Not far from Elliot’s is Café Stella, also located in Ghent. Others include Borjo Coffeehouse, Cure Coffeehouse, Brasserie, aLatté Café, and the newly opened Java Surf Café & Espresso Bar. LEARN MORE

Chilly? Head to Wharf Hill Brewing Company for a nice tall glass of one of their beers on tap. Or sample some of the brewpub’s new brewmasters’ (Ryan Phenicie and Sam Horchler) Outage IPA or Old English Ale (coming soon!). Ahhh! That’ll warm the bones. LEARN MORE

Virginia Beach

Just steps away from the Virginia Beach boardwalk, in the colorfully emerging ViBe Creative District, sits Three Ships Coffee Roasters, whose approach to coffee mirrors the artistry of its neighbors, as they are carefully crafting the rich taste of their coffee by hand – from bean to cup! Enjoy a cup (or two) of this adventurous coffee while you browse the myriad of local treasures that can be found in the ViBe. From handmade leather bags at North End Bag Co., to custom pin-striping work at Igor’s Customs, you can find a unique gift for everyone on your list. LEARN MORE
