The family-friendly Sonrise Music Festival, at Virginia Beach’s Oceanfront Resort Beach, will come alive with the sounds of Alternative music May 28-30. Held at the 31st Street Neptune Park, the event will feature Christian artists offering a variety of musical genres, including cutting edge Top 40, Hip Hop and Indie music. Visitors will have the opportunity to win a meet-and-greet to hang with national and local celebrities, as well as browse and shop at numerous local vendor booths along the VB Boardwalk. LEARN MORE
We Be Jammin’ In Downtown Franklin. Come enjoy great music at We Be Jammin’ at Barretts Landing. This family friendly event is a great place to kick back and relax. Bring your lawn chair, your family and friends and dancing shoes and come down to Barrett’s Landing and listen to the sounds of area bands every Thursday night this summer in Downtown Franklin. Williamsburg Spring Arts is back and in full swing! The big BBQ Bash takes place the first weekend in May, with Yorktown’s 4th Annual Blues, Brews, and BBQ event on May 6th at Riverwalk Landing. The Muscarelle Museum of Art celebrates their 2nd Annual Bluegrass, Beer and Barbecue in the ‘Burg event on the 7th. Riverwalk Landing will also host over 100 juried artists, live music and food vendors for Art at the River on the 7th. The big Fireworks Finale Concert takes place on May 20th at William & Mary’s Phi Beta Kappa Hall, where Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra presents music by Falla, Korngold and Tchaikovsky! The Richmond Concert Chorale comes to Smithfield. Smithfield’s Sundays at Four Concert Series presents the Richmond Concert Chorale under the direction of Dr. Ryan Tibbetts on Sunday, May 7 at 4:00 p.m. at Benn’s United Methodist Church (14571 Benn’s Church Blvd.) in Smithfield. The Richmond Concert Chorale, an auditioned group of singers, will delight the audience with a program of varied repertoire all sung to honor the memory of Evelyn Laine Yeoman Crider, who for many years was the Organist/Music Director at Benn’s Methodist Church. Dr. Tibbetts received his doctorate from Indiana University. He is Artistic Director of the Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale and Assistant Conductor of Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia.
